For the LOVE OF NATURE
Otter Creek
Our organization is dedicated to raising awareness and finding humane solutions to manage invasive and non-native species that are destroying our environment at a staggering pace.
NATURE DESERVES BETTER
Our MISSION
Nonprofit Research in the heart of Nature.
We founded Otter Creek with a single mission: to restore the balance of nature by correcting the wrongs we humans have forced on our environment. Otter Creek Foundation, Inc., is a tax exempt nonprofit corporation dedicated to conducting research, data collection and researching humane solutions to managing invasive species in our lives and ecosystems.
WHAT WE DO
Field RESEARCH

Our staff and volunteers perform field research and projects to include solution implementation.
Data ANALYSIS

Data collection in the field and lab is analyzed and compared to libraries of research data to allow us to review and recommend unique solutions in the market.
TESTING & REPORTING

Our staff and volunteers perform laboratory testing and oversee contracted testing programs to analyze and report on novel and cutting edge solutions.

Current areas of research and education include feral-hog population management, wildlife diseases, invasive reptiles, community-animal programs, and endangered-species monitoring. The Foundation evaluates proposed projects based on their scientific merit, conservation value, animal-welfare implications, regulatory status, and consistency with the Foundation’s charitable purposes.
We are proud to announce our newest initiative, the Feral Cat & Dog TNR Support Program, where we are researching oral contraception and pathogen defense vaccines to make Trap-Neuter-Release efforts safer, more humane, and longer-lasting for community cats and dogs. Lastly, we are hoping to get approval to study and monitor the Endangered Lower Keys Marsh Rabbit, found only in the Key West area.

ADOPTIONS & MEMORIALS
ADOPT GIMPY
Gimpy is by far one of our favorites and the most needy. He is also a hero pig, taking on the care of the Three Orphans despite his own suffering and limitations. Help us to find a cure for his disease and help him to live a happier life with his new family.
ADOPT MR. OTTER CREEK
Mr. Otter Creek is our organization’s namesake and mascot. Your donations and adoption efforts support our wrok to ensure Mr. Creek and other animals have a safe and vibrant ecosystem to live in. Your donations go towards our efforts across the board.
LIMPY’S MEMORIAL
Limpy was our sweetheart and our greatest ally in the search for solutions. Limpy was perhaps the smartest of all of the pigs and she learned many human words and actions. She would “sit” for treats, something she learned in three tries. She would also try to mimic what our team was doing around the facility. One night she even pushed the lawnmower out of storage and seemed to be trying to start it. Click the GO button to see the video on her page.
ADOPT GIMPY’S ORPHANS
These three little pigs were separated from their birth mothers by trespassing hunters. Fortunately they found each other and somehow found Gimpy. Help us to find a contraception solution so these piglets are not caught up in the breeding cycle. Help us to research the vaccine for Brucellosis so these piglets do not suffer like Gimpy and the other pigs.
ADOPT MISS BROWNIE
Miss Brownie is one of our original gang and the first piglets we watched from birth to adulthood. Brownie is smart and has a good disposition. When she contracted Brucellosis and could not stand the pain any longer, she came to us and spent many nights beside us as we nursed her back to health away from the other pigs. She is a good mother and often adopts other piglets that are neglected. Help us to find the vaccine for her horribly disfiguring and disabling disease.
